How to Choose the Best Press-On Nails (Without Wasting Your Money)

How to Choose the Best Press-On Nails (Without Wasting Your Money)

If you've started looking for press-on nails lately, you've probably realised there's a lot to choose from.

Some are super cheap.

Some are really expensive.

Some promise they'll last for weeks.

Others don't even come with glue!

It can be a little overwhelming.

When I first started Les Tomes, I ordered so many different sets trying to find something I was actually happy to wear. I quickly realised that not all press-on nails are made the same.

So if you're wondering what to look for before buying your next set, here's what I'd personally recommend.

1. Look for nails that actually look like real nails

This might sound obvious, but it's the biggest difference between a cheap set and a great one.

The best press-on nails shouldn't look thick, bulky or obviously fake.

They should look like you've just walked out of a salon.

I always say the best compliment isn't someone asking,

"Are those press-ons?"

It's someone asking,

"Where did you get your nails done?"

2. Make sure everything you need is included

There's nothing worse than getting excited for your new nails to arrive...

...only to realise you still need to go and buy glue.

A good press-on nail kit should have everything you need to get started.

That's why every Les Tomes full set includes:

✔ Premium press-on nails

✔ Nail glue

✔ Adhesive tabs

✔ Prep kit

✔ Nail file

✔ Cuticle stick

✔ Instructions

✔ Our signature vegan leather pouch

You can literally open the package and get started.

3. Choose nails that fit your lifestyle

One thing I hear all the time is...

"I love them... but they're probably too long for me."

Here's the good news...

You don't have to wear them exactly as they arrive.

If you prefer a shorter length, you can gently file and reshape them until they're perfect for you.

That's exactly what I do with some of my own sets.

Whether you're a busy mum, work in an office or just prefer shorter nails, it's nice knowing you can make them your own.

4. Think about how you actually want to wear them

Not everyone wants to wear the same set for two weeks.

Some people love changing their nails every weekend.

Others want one set to last as long as possible.

That's why I love having both options.

If you use nail glue, most people get around 10–14 days of wear.

If you use adhesive tabs, they're perfect for weekends, weddings, parties or whenever you want beautiful nails without the commitment.

Both are included with every Les Tomes set, so you can decide what suits you.

5. Reusable is always worth it

This is something a lot of people don't realise.

A good quality set of press-on nails doesn't have to be worn once and thrown away.

If you remove them carefully and look after them, you can wear them again.

I love this because it means your favourite designs aren't just sitting in a drawer after one wear.

6. Buy the nails you'll actually wear

It's so easy to get caught up buying the brightest colour or the latest trend.

But if you're anything like me, you'll probably wear your favourite neutral set ten times more than the really bold one.

When you're building your collection, I'd always start with:

  • A beautiful neutral

  • A classic French tip

  • A soft pink

  • Then something a little more fun

That way you've always got a set ready, no matter the occasion.

So... what are the best press-on nails?

Honestly?

The best press-on nails are the ones that make your life easier.

The ones that look natural.

Feel comfortable.

Last well.

And don't require hours sitting in a salon every few weeks.

That's exactly why I started Les Tomes.

I wanted beautiful nails that worked around my life—not the other way around.

If you're juggling work, kids, shift work or just a busy schedule, I truly believe your nails shouldn't be another thing that takes up your time.

Beautiful nails shouldn't take hours.

And thankfully, they don't have to.
